Here's the house and front yard. The house faces west, so the
north side of the yard is on the left (the blue car) and the south to
the right. The pictures start with the northwest corner. You can
see the Japanese Maple in the corner (inside the fence).

I took lots of pictures of the north beds. These
beds are full and the plants are already lush. They get a lot of sun;
the sages, thymes, and rosemarys are abundantly happy there! I
love to sit on the edge of these beds and smell all the herbs.

| This bed is directly in front of the house -- the
north east side of the yard. It's a mostly shady spot. The
bright color of the cyclamens really sets off the chartreuse of the Creeping
Jenny. (Which I like to call "Creepy Jenny.") |

This shot shows how shady it really is.

| This is a
sequence of the beds across the front porch. I love the tiny Chaste
Tree in the first (north) bed. It's soft but architectural -- the look is
wonderful. I'd like to replace the other plants in these beds,
though. |

This shot is from the northeast corner (in front of
the cyclamen), to the southwest corner. You can see the tall pear
tree (to the left of the power pole), the Weeping Katsura tree, and the
Golden Locust. |

This
is the south bed. You can just make out the trunk of the pear tree
rising through the dogwood.
This bed is becoming really lovely. The
varigated dogwood adds a lot of light. And I love the contrast of
the blue Sweet William flowers against the hosta. |

Here's the southwest bed. The Hebes are in
bloom, looking like little frothy white mounds. |

Meet the
Grumpy Garden Guy. His partner -- the Goofy Garden Guy -- is
currently hanging out on the front porch. |

Is the Locust tree in bloom? No, it's two different
clematis twining up through it. |
A close-up of the gorgeous blue-purple clematis
blooms. |
