Q 9.  Can I email an ISD file to someone, or does it have to be downloaded from somewhere?

You can email an ISD file to someone, just as you would email any other attachment.  The critical factor is whether or not your email software (and the receiver's email software) can support file attachments of any kind.   Be aware that sending large files is time-consuming (on both ends).  Try to "zip" or compress files before sending to save time.

Q 35.  I'm having trouble making buttonholes.  The manual says to press the "securing button" at the end of the length that you want.  But that's not working (or I'm not sure what the "securing button" is).

From Carol Evans:

A lot of us have had the same experience making buttonholes. I remember pointing and clicking on the icon on the screen and not "securing" the end of the buttonhole. I finally called the dealer to ask for help. Found out that what Bernina meant by "securing button" is really the "reverse" button above the presser foot. I penciled that in my book so I wouldn't forget.

Does this mean that in the Bernina 1630 manual on page 46, in the far right column that I replace the words "securing button" with "reverse button", including pg.46 second & third column and pg. 49 right column???

Bernina calls the "reverse" button the "securing" button. Just remember that and you'll not forget. In the front of the manual where the diagram of the front of the machine is, it calls the reverse button the securing one.

Tip: there's a little white plastic leveler available from your Bernina dealer that makes a world of difference when you do buttonholes on an uneven surface, like the top button near the neckline or a cuff on a sleeve.

Q 17. How can I make Designer stitch one pattern?

When I design a stitch and get ready to stitch it out, I select "Transmit stitch to sewing machine" under the Pattern menu.  Then I select the computer icon, then '1' in the counter bar to indicate I only want one repetition. However, the machine does not stop but continues stitching, often starting the stitch about 1/16" inch from the first one.
